Gynecologic Exams at Our Office

If you are interested in gynecologic services, you will first need to make an appointment for an examination. During this exam, you will discuss any concerns with one of our skilled and experienced gynecologists.

The two of you will go over your complete medical history, including any past and current conditions, past surgeries, mental health, and lifestyle factors. You will be asked about whether or not there is a history of cervical cancer, breast cancer, or any other medical issues in your family. You will also be asked about your history regarding pregnancy, childbirth, menstruation, and sexual activity.

A physical exam will be performed, and your vitals will be recorded. During a gynecologic physical exam, your breasts, abdomen, and pelvis will be examined. If you have been sexually active, a quick internal vaginal examination will take place, which will involve a pap smear. An ultrasound may also be performed.

Depending on the reason for the visit, any number of diagnostic tests can be performed or requested. Along with the pap smear and ultrasound, these can include mammograms, blood tests to check a variety of factors (such as glucose tolerance and hormone levels), and amniocentesis for pregnant women above age 35.

Dr. Attanucci was by far one of the most caring physicians I have ever seen. She never made me feel rushed or I was inconveniencing her like some other physicians I have seen at different practices. I would and have in fact recommended her to many of my friends and family.
